Frequently Asked Questions
SGC Gold
SGC La Liberté
What is an allocation?
An allocation is a lot of bottles defined every year by SGC Wine Estates. The traditional allocation is usually made of 16 bottles of each appellation - Pomerol, Saint-Emilion, Grand Cru and Médoc - making a total of 48 bottles for a full allocation. Some specific allocations can be different from time to time decided by SGC Wine Estates.
Why is it invitation only?
Due to the specificity of the processes involved and the quantities of wine the terroir is able to
yield, SGC's very small production averaging 15,000 bottles a year. The wish to keep our limited production amongst oenophiles and collectors has inspired a closed purchasing system of allocation via invitation only.
For this reason the allocataire of SGC are carefully selected for their shared passion for exquisite wines and their spirit. SGC Le Cercle members secure allocations for future vintages as long as they purchase every produced vintage. There is no commitment to purchase each year but the priority of
allocations goes to members who buy consecutively.
SGC Wine Estates reserves the rights to invite those who have a shared passion for wines and with whom our philosophy resonates.
