The full story
The science of the soils, the two wines, the blind tasting with Michel Bettane, the tables that pour it, and the press.
How the wine is chosen
Science, not heritage
For generations, Bordeaux’s hierarchy has been defined by the château. SGC ranks the land instead. Every parcel is mapped in the laboratory across four pillars, then scored on a 20-point index.

Every parcel is rated from 0 to 20. Only soils scoring 15 or above are ever bottled for SGC La Liberté.

“Amazing wine. A mystery in a blind tasting. Blew the socks off everything.”
“Exceptionally smooth and certainly one of the best vintages”
Goldman Sachs interviews Arnaud Christiaens
Why I founded SGC
“We analyse the land itself, parcel by parcel, layer by layer, and place every soil on the same twenty-point scale. The land is a patchwork, and we select only its exceptional parts.”
Do not rank the label. Rank the soil.
“Science tells us where a great wine may begin. It does not decide where the journey ends: that belongs to the glass. So we serve our wines blind, beside the great names of Bordeaux, with no reputation to influence the result.”
